GUELPH, Ont. – Wake Forest rising junior Jennifer Kupcho continued her strong
play by winning the 2017 Canadian Women’s Amateur at Cutten Fields. She shot
7-under over the tournament’s four rounds to record a five-shot victory over an
elite amateur field.
Kupcho shot 65-70-66-72 to shoot a 7-under 273, winning by five strokes over
runner-up Lilia Kha-Tu Vu. Only five players finished the tournament under par.
Wake Forest incoming freshman Emilia Migliaccio also competed at the event,
finishing T-17th at 9-over over the four rounds.
By winning the title, Kupcho received an exemption into the LPGA Canadian Pacific Women’s Open, held August 24-27 in Ottawa, Ont.
Kupcho’s busy summer schedule featured a 21st-place finish at the U.S Women’s Open earlier this month, where she was the second-lowest amateur in the field. Next month Kupcho will compete at the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur, held August 7-13 at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
Kupcho, a consensus 2017 first-team All-American, set a school record last season with a 70.61 scoring average. She had eight top-five victories, including three victories.
