Russ Miller

Inducted 2020
Golf Person of the Year 2009 & 2004

Since arriving at The Broadmoor from North Carolina’s Landfall Club in 1998, PGA Director of Golf Russ Miller has helped to bring four USGA championships to The Broadmoor—the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2008, ’18 and ’25 U.S. Senior Opens. The 2025 event will be the ninth USGA championship contested at the resort, the first being the 1959 U.S. Amateur won by Jack Nicklaus.

Looking further into the future, Miller shared that there’s a good chance The Broadmoor will host the 2031 U.S. Senior Open. “It looks like we’re going to be on a five-, six- or seven-year rota with the Senior Open,” he told coloradogolf.org. “That was one of my goals, and it looks like it’s going to come true. That’s a fun thing.”

Miller has certainly had his share of fun. In 2003, he earned the national PGA of America award for Resort Merchandiser of the Year—a category in which the Colorado PGA Section has honored him in 2000, ’02, ’03 and ’12. In November, 2019, the Colorado PGA awarded him its highest honor, Golf Professional of the Year.

Miller has given back to the game through his seminal involvement in The First Tee of Pikes Peak and the PGA Professional Golf Management program at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. He also has mentored numerous future PGA golf professionals and supervised a thriving caddie program that has produced 14 Evans Scholars during his tenure.

His love of golf history inspired the creation of The Broadmoor Heritage Hallway—a glorious display of the club’s illustrious pedigree—and the resurrection of the annual Broadmoor Invitation golf tournament. He is the third PGA Professional from The Broadmoor, following Ed Dudley and Dow Finsterwald, to be inducted into the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame, an organization that named him its Person of the Year in 2004 and 2009.
