The Colorado Golf Hall of Fame will stage its two major events of 2021 at a venue that has earned notoriety for hosting prestigious golf championships during its decade and a half of existence.

On June 1, Colorado Golf Club in Parker will host the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame’s annual fundraising golf tournament, and on Aug. 29, the Hall will hold its 48th Induction and Awards dinner.

In its brief history, Colorado Golf Club’s Coore-Crenshaw layout has welcomed the 2010 Senior PGA Championship, 2013 Solheim Cup and 2019 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. For its success with the Solheim Cup, CGC earned the Hall of Fame’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award.

“The Colorado Golf Hall of Fame recognizes excellence and spotlights the men and women who write the history of golf in our state,” Colorado Golf Club Membership and Marketing Director Tom Ferrell said. “And we are honored to host the 2021 tournament and induction dinner.”

Ferrell promises that attendees of both events will “blown away” by the original art and artifacts in the club’s recently completed Crenshaw Boardroom and Coore & Crenshaw Hallway.

To play in the CGHOF tournament on June 1, the cost is $375 per person or $1,500 for a foursome. Teams are composed of four players and will utilize two “best” balls of each foursome—combined low score net and gross, players pick up at double bogey.

Just as Covid-19 safety concerns forced the cancelation of the 2020 tournament, last year’s induction dinner was postponed until this year. The Aug. 29 ceremony will therefore combine the classes of both 2020 and 2021.  It will mark the 48th induction since the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame’s inaugural class consisting of Dave Hill, Charles “Babe” Lind and Mildred “Babe” Zaharias.

On that evening, a pair of longtime PGA Professionals—Russ Miller, the longtime PGA director of golf at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, and Ed Oldham, the PGA director of instruction at The Ranch Country Club in Westminster—will officially become the 143rd and 144th members of the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame. They respectively represent the classes of 2020 and ’21.

Others who will be honored that evening include Golf Persons of the Year Mary Weinstein of University of Denver Golf Course (2020) and Colin Prater of Cherokee Ridge Golf Course (2021); 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award winner Eleanore Pellegrini; 2020 Distinguished Service recipient Jerry Walters, radio host of “In the Fairway”; and 2020 Future Famers Charlotte Hillary of Cherry Hills Village and Micah Stangebye of Montrose.

A seat at the dinner costs $150. Email the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame for information on the dinner and sponsorship opportunities for both events.
